Ice on Lake Ontario
Wherein the ever shifting shapes of ice on Lake Ontario make for a lovely, cold walk.
I walk a lot in the Winter--in the summertime, I roll more, but the last couple of years I've not kept up with winter riding. I know why, and I need to fix it but that's a problem for another time.
So, I walk. Sometimes far and long--the Art Gallery of Ontario is about 12km from home, and it's not unheard of for me to walk to it. Ronchesvalle is abut 5km, and that happens at least once a week.
One thing I like about walking is it's easier to take, and use, my camera. Sometimes this means a short walk along the lake can take a very long time, but in the end...it's worth it.
I like the lake in the winter. The ice forms and breaks trapping and releasing things and creating endles temporary patterns and textures. Colours fade into an almost monochrome, and what's there today won't be the same tomorrow. It's a lovely reminder of the fact that change is constant.
