Grandpa Lobb on our Annual Vacation
When we reached a certain age, Grandpa Lobb took us on an annual vaction to a rented cabin on the shore of Rice Lake in Ontario. This annual treat was the highlight of my summer.
This picture was taken at a picnic bench at Rice Lake, I think. I can't remember exactly, but it certainly looks like the right spot.
My memories of Rice Lake are fond; a lot of firsts occurred there. I read the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy sitting in a tree by Rice Lake - and I can't think of a better place to do so. Those three books were hugely influential when I was young, and that tree is embedded in my mind as a result.
