Picnic Table near Beaverdell
The passport station in Beaverdell was broken down, and the trail takes what could be interpreted as a fork in Beaverdell. Stay left--the trail to the right is rocky, bumpy, and has several sharp turns. These should have been my first clue that this wasn't the right direction: trains don't turn unless they have to, and they don't turn that sharply.
Nonetheless, I kept going and wound up at a dead end across the creek from a beautiful property with an ominous bridge. It was about five o'clock and when I stumbled on this picnic table, I decided to take a break and have dinner and refill water bottles before backtracking.
