Whitewater Kayaking the Chilliwack River
Some photos taken on the weekend of whitewater kayaking on the Chiliwack River. The ones taken with the 500mm mirror lens strongly exhibit the doughnut effect of out of focus areas that is typical of these lenses, although in this case I think it creates an appealing effect of sparkling water.

Laurie Anderson is the queen of every media
A new Laurie Anderson album slipped out in August, and I missed it. I’ve finally gotten to it, and it’s a reminder of how good audio entertainment can be. (I’m reluctant to call it music.) Anybody who reads this, accidentally or on purpose, should buy at least one of her albums.

Religion doesn’t scare me; religious fervour does
Tonight’s Simpsons reruns had Homer abandoning religion, and the Flanders’ singing a song “God said to Noah there’s gonna be a floody, floody”. Funny stuff, until I found this web site with virtually identical lyrics.

Waterfalls
On a recent visit to the village of Harrison Hotsprings, the Jeep turned up a logging road and found this.

The 70’s are back; oh, wait - they’re gone again
This is not a joke. I sat two rows behind this guy on the plane. The really funny thing is his head was tiny, it’s all hair.

Toronto to Vancouver on a roll of film
A long time coming, but I’ve scanned and posted a roll of photos that was taken when I traversed the country with my mother.
These photos were arranged as a web gallery in Photoshop. The titles indicate the date and time (MM.DD HH.MM). Times are approximate, as my memory is failing, but should provide a reasonable estimate of when the photos were actually taken. Times are approximately local, but the constant time changes made it difficult to keep up.
For those of you who are familiar with the ongoing joke in my life that is the Earth Future Lottery, I managed to take a picture of servers on my recent trip to Charlottetown. We may or may not own these, and they may or may not get used in our project. (What, you expect it to start making sense now?)
Sailing the Northumberland Strait
Photos taken on August 14th while sailing in Prince Edward Island with Todd Dupuis.
9 days is not enough in California
Well, we’re back. Our 9 day survey trip of California is over. Lots of pictures to come, as I took more than 300 shots in both colour and black and white.
